Shannon Wendt is from Grand Rapids, Michigan – and she’s blunt about the impact Obamacare has had on her family. In Americans for Prosperity’s new ad, the mother of five said the Obama’s signature domestic achievement has ” been nothing but headache and struggle.” Her family’s health insurance plan was cancelled, which “feels like a kick in the gut,” according to Wendt.
She ends the 60-second ad by saying Rep. Peters’ vote for Obamacare is “destroying the middle class.” In their March 25 press release, AFP noted:
The latest ad buy starts today [March 25] and will run for several weeks throughout Michigan on TV and digital platforms with a budget over $1.5 million.
AFP President Tim Phillips said, “Although politicians like Gary Peters don’t want to hear it, there are millions of middle class Americans just like Shannon who have had their peace of mind, healthcare and family budget upended by ObamaCare.
“We are committed to standing up for victims who have been hurt by this law and are forced to deal with higher insurance costs, lost access to doctors, and broken promises.”
A prior AFP ad featured cancer patient Julie Boonstra, who also had her insurance cancelled due to Obamacare. She became a target of the Peters campaign, who sent letters to Michigan television stations demanding they halt airing the ad. Hey, when all else fails, silence the cancer-stricken woman, right? That’s liberalism. Will the same thing happen to the Wendt family?
Michigan is currently in play this year, with Republican Terri Lynn Land – former Michigan Secretary of State – locked in a dead heat with Rep. Gary Peters. This is deep-blue Michigan we’re talking about here, folks. It’s competitive thanks to Obamacare.
